Context

Inspired by Friedrich Schiller’s text The Veiled Image at Sais, the sculpture recalls the inscription attributed to the goddess Isis: “I am all that has been, is, and shall be, and no mortal has lifted my veil.” The work was created in response to contemporary debates in which the veil is instrumentalized in Islamophobic discourse. Cast from a mold of a Marian figure, only the veil is retained and elevated upon a structure inspired by the Tree of Sephiroth. Split open at its center, it reveals Daath, the hidden sphere of knowledge, transforming the veil from a symbol of concealment into one of revelation.
