Title
M aime [ ɛ m]
Date
2020
Materials
Glass, dark enamel
Technique
Kiln-formed glass
Dimensions
15 × 15 × 4 cm
Context

M aime is built from two complementary glass elements. A transparent block contains three layers of text—an embedded love letter written in the artist’s personal alphabet. The block appears to have been cut by the letter M, which exists separately as a second sculptural element carrying the same textual layers. Although the two pieces seem to correspond perfectly, the letter cannot reinsert into its matrix. The work plays on the phonetic sound [ ɛ m], produced by closing the lips in a gesture similar to a kiss.
